Commander in Chief

There were no wars when Taft was President, but Taft did send out troops more than once.  On November 18, 1909, President Taft responded to the deaths of 500 revolutionaries as well as 2 American advisers by Zelaya, a Nicaraguan dictator, by sending two warships (American President: A Reference Resource).

Taft also sent troops out when he heard that Americans living in Mexico could be in danger (American President: A Reference Resource).

Taft was a good Commander in Chief because he forced Zelaya to retire (American President: A Reference Resource) and made sure the Americans in Mexico were safe.  Taft did this by only sending troops.  There was never a war during his time and since the troops didn't fight there wasn't much opposition.
Global perspective:  Taft sent troops to Nicaragua after Zelaya had over 500 people killed.  He resigned because of the troops, which helped the Nicaraguans.  They probably think Taft is good for doing that.
