Head of State

Taft was the first President to throw the first pitch of the season for a baseball game (Putnam).  It was April 14th for the Washington Senators.  Presidents after Taft have also done this, making Taft the starter of this wonderful tradition.

Taft was the first President to own a car at the White House (10 Interesting Facts About William Taft).  Although I have not found any pictures of him driving the car, he did go in it for rides.  Taft started this glorious tradition as well, seeing that the Presidents after him decided to own cars too.  But why they all wanted cars, I am not so sure.

Taft's job of Head of State was performed well.  He started some new traditions, when he threw a first pitch baseball and had a car at the White House, and ended some old- like when he converted the barn into a garage (10 Interesting Facts About William Taft).  Taft's ability to start traditions was great making him a good Head of State.
